Possums are mainly folivores (meaning that their diet consists mainly of leaves) although they also supplements their usual diet of leaves with fruit, invertebrates, flowers, buds, and whatever else is available.

opossums eat almost anything.
They live in my neighborhood. Once I left some cat food outside and in the evening I looked out in the yard and an opossum was eating the cat food.

Once I was picking blueberries and I heard something small moving near me. There in the bush was a small opossum.

So, they eat anything they can find.. Pet food, fruit, left over foods, anything.
