Reunion Tower is pretty cool. It offers a bar, observation site and restaurant on different levels. The restaurant is good but pricey, there's a little charge for the observation level, and the bar service isn't great, but you can't beat the view. The tower rotates, so you can sit down and see all of Dallas in about an hour.
Check out the Farmers Market, too. Besides fruits, veggies and flowers, you can get jewelry, furniture and other stuff at the International Market.
I'm a big fan of Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). Reunion Tower is at Union Station, one of DART Rail's stops. From Union Station, you can go all over Dallas and even take a trip to Fort Worth on the Trinity Railway Express.
One of my favorite stops is Mockingbird Station. You'll find a theater, restaurants and lots of places to shop. And if you take DART, you won't have to worry about parking.
Have fun!

Please disregard part of the other answers because there are some items listed that are no longer open, or in downtown Dallas.
The 6th Floor Museum, The Dallas Museum of Art, and the Dallas Aquarium are good choices, and are in downtown Dallas.
The Northpark Mall is not downtown, it is in north Dallas. The Virgin Megastore is also not downtown, it was (it too is now closed) in Midtown, at Mockingbird Station. There are several shops and restaurants at Mockingbird Station, and it is accessible by DART's (Dallas Area Rapid Transit's) light rail on both the red and blue train lines.
The West End area of downtown still has restaurants, but the West End Marketplace itself is now closed.
