That light is there to warn you NOT TO DRIVE it until that light is out.
It COULD be that the noise and the light are related, and it also could be that you have a water pump AND a lube problem.
For a vehicle that is only 4-5 years old, is your mileage low enough to seek warranty repairs?
That would be the BEST first stop.
If out of warranty, tow it to a dealer or a repair shop.

This sounds bad. The engine oil light is on because the oil pressure is low and if it is making noise then DO NOT drive it anymore or you will almost certainly damage the engine if it has not already been damaged. Have it towed to a shop and have it checked out, it,s possible that it can be repaired but if you drive it while it is making noise it will absolutely ruin the engine so get it checked out by a good shop or dealer.

The oil light comes on when the oil gets low or when the oil pressure drops. If you have a noise and the oil light is on it usually is a very bad thing. You may want to get to a mechanic ASAP! It sounds like you may have ruined your engine. If you ran it out or low on oil it can cause major problems with internal engine parts. They need oil!

Could be ...Thrust bearings, rod bearings, main bearings, oil pump, oil sending unit and the grinding is coming from something else, or a combination of those things
