LOL well I work in a place that requires bagage check because some items are not accepted on the site (for various reasons, I won't list them all here). We require people to have products like shampoo and all in their original bottles. Unidentified bottles are confiscated. Of course, someone could put some shampoo X in a bottle saying it's brand Y. There will always be people who will try to sneak in something. And since we recently got aware that a few crackheads wanted to mix various ingredients in a plane to make it blow up, the authorities just want to avoid that from happening. It's for your own safety. I know it sucks, but do you really need to carry your gel with you? It can stay in your luggage that's not accessible during the flight. I'm pretty sure that plane companies will have enough water to hydrate everyone for a few hours and even stuff like eye drops because the air tends to be dry in a plane.

Really.... when will all this end? They took away matches at the airport now it is gels and liquid. Personally, that is going to suck for some of us who pack lotions, soaps, hair gels and other non prohibited items.
Before you know it you will have to get on the plane butt naked to fly anywhere because clothing could be explosive.

Well, they were going to blow up 11 planes going to the States, yesterday. The terrorists can take a bottle of pop, shampoo, or lens cleaner and add a little nitro glycerin. The bottle looks normal. Another terrorist takes a common, electronic device, such as a camera, cell phone or laptop. With the solution & the device, they blow a huge plane into smithereens.
Yes, it is necessary. What is more important, a bottle of water or arriving alive? You can buy a bottle from the flight attendant. "Better safe than sorry."

Yes, I think this is getting excessive. Pretty soon, nothing will be allowed on a plane... even us! :-)
I thought it could not get any worse, but now it has.
I sort of understand liquids. But makeup and magazines? That is just crazy.
Plus I read about all the poor babies, pregnant women, and nursing mom who are thirsty on the plane.

There needs to be something done to stop the terrorists without making the rest of us suffer!

the only reason i've always carried on my cosmetics and things like that on my carryon is because i don't want some dumb luggage person throwing my suitcase and breaking everything inside it and getting everything messy. all that stuff can still go on the plane, just not in the carryon no more. no big deal to me i'll just put that stuff in a ziplock baggie now.

Don't be rediculous. I think it totaly reasonable. If they make one person do it, it is racial profiling, if we all have to do it then some how it becomes excessive????????
