I have a BMW 328I / 2000. The check engine light came up and the code was..."camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction" ...I've changed the sensor, but the error is not going away!
Also, the problem is when i push the gas pedal in highway it takes a long time to speed up, same problem at take off when I floor the pedal, accelerate very slow, then runs ok.
What do you think?

This could be something like a bad contact or another failure in the controller unit (some backup battery if it's in there or just a fuse). It seems to me that this controller unit can't adjust the cam position causing this bad behaviour. Maybe the cams are stuck in a high speed position and the controller can't set them back anymore. When you accelerate too fast the engine doesn't run well because the cams are out of position, but when you gain speed the engine starts performing better as you come nearer to the power the cams are stuck on and performance will become better.

the pleasure of owning a highly engineered ultimate driving machine. It will drive you nuts now that it is more than five years old and you have all those plastic and nylon parts wearing out. Unfortunately, it seems you have tried the home fix so you can either pay attention that your oil doesnt show any signs of undue wear, temp isnt running higher than in the past, and mileage isnt suffering and live with the light - - or go to your authorized Beemer dealer and pay up with a smile. Get a loaner.

More than likely, you'll have to take'r back. Could be a throttle cable out of adjustment from when you replaced camshaft position sensor, not allowing throttle to open properly.
