There isn't a course called 'American Literature' at high school but American authors are included on the English Literature course. My daughter did Tennessee Williams at A Level.

I don't know. Where I live in Canada, students study literature from different places as part of their high school English courses. Do you have a course just on British literature where you live?

No, there is particularly time for British and American literature, no longer to point coping with the problems of translated works. Face it translations require an author the two experienced to do the translating and on an identical time as the innovations might translate, they actually do no longer help plenty with studying to write down interior the language. different the time the "super classics" could wait till college, like various authors with what's considered mature subject count. maximum scholars get a pair of years committed to literature, with an occasional novel in different instructions. i does no longer say that no distant places language books are taught, the sheer style of Odyssey questions in this area on my own might coach that fact a lie. in my view, i will remember examining Machiavelli, solar Tzu, & Mao for one direction. thrilling your distant places literature of super classics includes purely Europeans, and purely modern-day ones at that. What no outrage over the shortcoming of the Illiad or Niebelung saga?
