People have cars like Ferrari's and Porsche's and drive 60 miles an hour on the highway?? I mean what is the point of having a car like that if you aren't going to drive it like it's meant to be driven???

Cars like that are driven the way they are meant to be driven. The driver turns the key in the ignition, presses the clutch and the accelerator, and off they go,
either from A to B,
or just for the sheer pleasure of driving.

Or are you talking about being driven at high speeds?

Speed kills.

sorry, back to your question... well, it depends on the laws of the land and on which highways you are referring to..

In Ireland there are speed cameras. Driving faster than the speed limit costs you points on your driving licence. if you clock 12 points, your driving licence is taken from you. Then you have a beautiful but useless car on your driveway. A very tempting target for thieves?

In America, highways... speed limits are a mere formality. Due to the high speeds driven, there are a lot of wrecked cars on the sides of the road, in Nevada, anyway. I'm sure American drivers of Ferraris/Porsches do NOT want their expensive cars wrecked?

On German autobahns, cars can clock up to 120mph, I believe. Most Germans drive AT the speed limit. So in Germany, Ferraris and Porsches are driven at high speeds on the autobahns. So if you wish to see beautiful cars like that being driven at high speeds, just go to Germany, hire a Ferrari and drive at 120mph from the Danish Border to the Swiss border, and you'll be satisfied.

There is this stereotype of Ferraris and Porsches being "fast" cars. So the Police will keep track of such cars. If the driver is a young man, he is in a Ferrari, and according to police and insurance reports, such a combination equals speed kills. However, not many young men are able to afford such cars.

Don't I hate it... No, I don't. Sorry.

just because they have money and an expensive car doesnt mean they do not have brains and logic..
yes, they could drive faster on the highway, but who wants to lose their liscence for excessive speed, or get their plates taken down when they flee and elude...
they possibly might be considerate of their own personal safety and the safety of other drivers...

they dont really want to die in a high speed accident or kill a family of 4 innocent people driving down the road in a family vehicle...

If you want to drive it like its meant to be driven, spend the 10 or 15 bucks and go play safely and legally on the track...
its that simple

Cars like Ferraris and Porsches are highly noticeable. Even to the cops.

So basically, if you have a car like that, you have to be extra careful with your speed, or you'll get a ticket every week!

Maybe they're being careful because they don't want a ticket? Or they want to show off. Unless you actually have one yourself you'll never know why. Cars like that change people. Trust me... My Uncle got a Porsche and it changed him A LOT!

I don't hate it. I laugh at it because they spent all that money for a really fast car, but since that car is an instant target for traffic cops, they have to be very careful in how they drive. It's like driving around with a big sign saying, "Fast car, give me a speeding ticket," so they drive slow.

I know, and then you drive by them, and the driver is like a senior.. and you're thinking, what a waste of a car... at least if you wanna ride a car like this, make sure you know how to drive it properly and use it to the max, lol:-)

If I had one, I would not speed either, because those are the first cars to get pulled over. Also, have you ever noticed that it is usually an older man driving one? This is because they can afford the "adult toys."

the power is there if you need it to pass people or get out of a wreck , better brakes make it safer . and of course the 0-60 factor is nice . your question is like asking why do people wear camoflauge if they are not in the army

I actually envy people who have nice cars. They're actually old most of the time because they save up all their money and in the end get what they want. Oo wells. I guess I'll be one of them one day! haha
