The New York Mets are building a new stadium in the parking lot of Shea. Though I am a huge Mets fan, I think Shea is a terrible stadium and I'm glad they're building a new field. Based on the pictures and descriptions, the new Mets Ballpark looks awesome. However, I've heard some rumors that it's gonna fall short of everyone's expectations.

I'm sure its bound to disappoint some people, you simply can't please everyone. But I'm looking forward to it. I hope they keep some of the old Shea stadium things though, like the skyline that has the ribbon on the WTC, and yes, I hope they keep the apple and the top hat too!

Oh, I'm sure it will be all wonderful and glittery and glitzy, and it will be a great place to watch the game.
And the ticket prices will double.
I miss Shea Stadium. People today forget that it was state-of-the-art back in 1964, though it has reached the end of its service life, perhaps. There was a time when the seat configuration could be changed from baseball to football (two of the box seat sections are mounted on tracks so they could move), but the little screen above the scoreboard wasn't too effective.
The saddest part is that we will lose a famous name. The new park will have one of those stupid corporate naming schemes that mean absolutely nothing to the team or its fans. William A. Shea was the man who brought National League baseball back to New York.

What rumors. How can a rumor start alls they did was outline the field, now you are saying it cant be done..I cant wait at least you will be able to take all the shortcuts again. They now direct everyone the same way out of the stadium.

It should be great....I just hope the Mets continue to have a great team! Even though I will miss Shea, I can't wait until 2009!

Think of it this way... Shea as you know it is garbage. Anything at all will be better than playing there, so even if it's doesn't meet or exceed the lofty expectations in everyone's minds... it'll still be a lot better than the present situation.

im not sure but when they built a new stadium for the vet it wasnt a dissapointment so if its anything like philly it should be good
