At work and scared to death because both my husband and my eldest son were in the military and they had both just called me to tell me they had been deployed and that they loved me and would call me when they knew something. My five younger children(15yrs-9yrs) were all at home because our school system felt it was better to send them home. So luckily I worked close(1/2 mile) to our home and my Boss told me to have them walk to where I worked and let them stay with us. This made my kids feel better and me too. We sat and watched the events unfold on the tv in the customer lounge. Maybe I should mention I live 45 minutes above Washington DC and 31/2hrs below NYC. Hows that for a day to remember?

I was in my cubicle at the office. I heard that the first plane struck tower from Dan Rather CBS News Radio. After that the morning became chaos after the second tower fell. After the Pentagon got hit.
I can tell you that no work didn't get done that morning and afternoon. For all of us employees were in the breakroom staring at the tube. As for me I roamed the hallways and I heard rumors too. By the time I got off work--Tower 7 had fallen. For a beautifully Tuesday that September morning and the days that followed became real interesting. For the first time I was working under Forcon Charlie Conditions.

I was at school teaching my 9th grade English class. The students were sharing some writing pieces, but I don't remember exactly what because another teacher came to the door to tell me about the towers --- nothing else seemed to matter. We turned on the TV and there was the eeriest silence I have ever heard in a classroom full of 9th graders.

Standing in front of the sink at home washing dishes at 7 months pregnant. I remember I saw the second plane hit and then everyone realized it wasnt an accident and i got really scared. I got in my car and ran to my sons school and pulled him out and took him home. There were lots of parents there and the teachers were just all walking around in the halls with these looks of disbelief on their faces. Alot of kids went home that day. I just wasnt sure it was over. I mean I didnt know if they were going to bomb other parts of the nation or what, and i wanted my family close.

I was in bed. It was my first day home from the hospital after having my son. I turned on the t.v. just as the first plane had hit. I didn't know what to do. My brother had just joined the army 7-8 months earlier. He and his wife (drewsilla01) were stationed in Augusta , GA. He had just got his orders a few days earlier that he would be going to Germany for a few years. I think that was the only thing that kept him from going to Iraq then. I spent most of that day pacing the floor, and crying. It made me realize how fragile our life and freedom really is.

Working in Disney World - Pirates of Carribean. I was diong my internship and was only there for about 3 weeks at the time, still learning the ropes of working there. Then after that all the rules changed!! It was crazy there that day and as a new person working in a big park like that - I was totally lost of how to react.

I was in Augusta, GA. My husband had joined the Army and was in the AIT training in Fort Gordon there. I was gathering up some papers to take up to the passport office when the phone rang. It was my best friend Tara in AL, calling me to see if I'd been watching the news. I told her no, and she said to go turn it on. I did and they were reporting about the first plane hitting the tower. I was still on the phone when we saw the second plane hit. That's when we realized it was not bombs but something even worse. I hung up the phone and woke up our roommate Cindy. She came in the living room and we watched the news in horror as they told about the Pentagon. The phone rang steadily, as my family in AL and her family in TX kept calling wanting to know about our husbands, since her husband was in the same Army unit as my husband. Me and Cindy usually cooked lunch for our husbands and took it to them every day. That day we couldn't get onto post at lunch, because the line to get on post was over 3 miles long. We waited untill 2 hours before it was time to pick them up and got in line. We didn't know what was going on with our husbands, if they were going to have to go to war that day or what. We were so scared. When we finially got on post, it was like a ghost town. Oh, did I mention I had an 8 month old baby at that time, too? It was a rough time for us all, and I was very proud of all the millitary, and I still am.
