I started my little girl on whole milk at 10 1/2 months to save on the cost of formula. First, I mixed half formula and half milk in her bottle for a week. She did fine with that, then I went 3/4 milk to 1/4 formula until I ran out of formula. Then, I went to straight milk by 11 months. Her pediatrician didn't really frown at me at all since she's gaining adequate weight and took to milk with no trouble at all. If you're going to start cows milk early, I wouldn't do it before 10 1/2 months and start slow.

I started giving my son whole milk at 10 months. He was breastfed and I wanted him to start using a cup when he started daycare. I wasn't going to start him on formula at that point since he was so close to a year already so I just tried the milk. He had already had yogurt and cheese so I figured it was fine. I have heard from many other mothers I know that they have given milk earlier than a year. We actually switched to 2% around a year though and he did digest that much easier. Whole milk is so heavy. He was and is eating so well and balanced that I believe he's getting enough fat elsewhere to be okay with out the whole milk. Good luck to you!

I was on milk before i was 1yr old and i have not a thing wrong with my kidneys so to this day i still dont believe what that doctors say about that. I see nothing wrong with it. Not only that but one time when my daughter was born i ran out of formula and i had to use milk it didnt effect her any differently. I think the reason why they say that is because formula and or breast milk is healthier for the baby than regular milk.

Yes, because my son's pediatrician recommended it as well as a nutritionist. Those would be the people to discuss that with, since you don't know if your child could have any possible allergies.
There is nothing wrong with milk. In fact its necessary for healthy bones, etc. They need the calcium as they aren't going to really get it anywhere else. As your child grows older they will need it less and less, but you don't want to feed them off of water and broccoli.
These young years are so incredibly important for their health, you want to give them the things that they need. Really you need to talk to someone who can give you real advice on that to help you care for your child. Cow's milk is not an evil thing, and it's fine before a year old.
Good luck!

My son became allergic to all formula at about 6 months. We started with Cow's milk then, He's now 17 and healthier than a horse, height 5'9" gorgeous teeth and great bones.

I have. I have 2 boys and 1 on the way. What did people do when there wasn't formula available? They had to give nourishment if you couldn't breast feed or there wasn't formula. I started breast feeding with both, then switched to formula then to cow's milk. They never had any problems, no allergies or stomach issues. Each child is different.

I tried at 9 months... but my kids were lactose intolerant so they couldn't use it...

If your baby has had no allergic reactions to any of the milk or food it has been on... then it would be okay if he is close to a year to introduce cows milk.

With my older son, we waited until he was a year old, then weaned him off of formula onto cows' milk. We did everything by the book with him! With his little brother, we started weaning him off of formula onto cows' milk at about 11 months, and he's fine.

for all of my children, i started giving milk to them around 11 months, but i would mix it with the formula. Like 50/50 or 60/40 for a week then gradually increase the amount of milk and decrease the amount of formula until they were drinking straight milk. they are all fine with no problems whatsoever
