Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant was a great lead singer. Jimmy Page was one of the best lead guitarists, and Steve Bonham was awesome on drums! Stairway to Heaven was one of the greatest rock songs ever and they had some many great songs and albums a truly legendary band. They also combined rock with a blend of blues with sounds that no other band has ever matched in my opinion.

In my personal opinion it's The Who, because they play and have played with passion throughout their career. Two of their members died, Keith Moon and then much later John Entwistle and they still continue. Led Zeppelin disbanded when John Bonham died. Keith Moon was revelutionary on the drums, and John Entwistle took the Bass Guitar to new heights in rock, also Pete Townshend physically attacks his guitar, and Roger Daltrey is one of the greatest singers in rock. To top it off they are one of the few bands to influence both metal and punk rockers. I can't say that for Led Zeppelin, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones.

Led Zepplin.
Not only great musicians but they really changed rock music. Sort of the begining of hard rock/heavy metal. Yeah others were doing things that where in the same category, Deep Purple and Black Sabath, around the same time but none with the scope quality and influence of Led Zepplin.

KISS: Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter! Before they hit the scene, rock music was barely ampilified in America and stage shows from various acts were lame.
KISS changed all that with their HUGE stages of Marshall amp stacks, blazing colored lights, that one full story high KISS logo, the pyrotechnics....and the sound of equally amped electric guitars. KISS wowed us with their larger than life uinque character costumes....and kept us guessing who they were behind their "makeup-masks".
Rock n' Roll was (thank God) never the same since...and a lot of today's concert shows are what they are due in very large part from KISS and their ideas of showmanship, which they rose the bar on.

METALLICA!!! And why, cause they started out underground, and got huge fans, sold millions of albums during the Mtv age for a long time without a single video, and they have gone through hell and back again and again and still put out music that is ever evolving and rocking

The Eagles. Because they actually knew what they were singing about. All these new groups want to sing about pain and tragedy when they have never experienced either. I mean, how could you when your'e a little trustfund, silver spoon brat who grew up in Beverly Hills.
