The only diet I've been able to stick to is calorie counting.
That said, I suffered from anorexia a few years ago and its hard to diet without falling back into that old habit.

I never went on diets longer than half a day. It doesn't work at all. Whenever I hit hunger, and starvation states, I'd eat. And I overeat.
The only time I actually managed to lose weight was when I developed this habit of asking myself mentally every few minutes.
" Am I still hungry? "
And if I was not hungry anymore, I'd stop eating.
Meaning, I stopped eating everytime I stopped being hungry. Instead of when I felt full. It worked. I lost about 8 kg. Ended up at 48kg.
Didn't last long though. I eat out with friends a lot after breaking up with my bf. And while eating and having conversations, I usually get distracted and forget to ask myself that question. So I'd overeat whenever the conversation got too interesting.
So now I am a little more heavier.

Hi
Thank god you recovered from anorexia, the best way to stay fit is to follow a simple plan like this one so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx
Good luck

If you only focus on dieting, you will be disappointed with the results (unless you are morbidly obese). If you want to become fit, you won't achieve those results by calorie reduction and good fat/protein/carbohydrate ratios. You will lose weight, but you will still be "soft."
The best (and quickest) way to lose FAT (not to be confused with losing WEIGHT, which if done incorrectly can mean losing MUSCLE) is to incorporate a triad of cardio, diet, and weight training.
Combine 30-45 minutes of cardio every day with 45 minutes to an hour of weight training 3 to 4 times a week with six small meals per day of about 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat totaling to about 1800 calories per day if you are a male, 1600 if you are a female. (Do NOT eat the exact same number of calories every day, however. You must cycle to keep your body guessing. This means do 1600 calories one day, 2000 the next, etc. etc. so that you have a weekly average of 1800.)
The food that you want to eat does NOT come in the form of processed shakes and protein bars. Stick to lean meats, raw fibrous (rarely starchy) vegetables, and unsaturated oils as your main sources of nutrients. This means chicken, eye of round steaks, tuna, salmon and lean cuts of pork for your protein and olive/flaxseed/fish oils for your fat. Whatever fibrous vegetables you like are OK. Mix and match, add light seasonings, and you can become quite creative based on your own tastes.
If you do this, I guarantee you will be smoking hot within six months. If you don't believe me...go to www.johnstonefitness.com and see just how much progress you can make.

yes going vegetarian... i eat fresh veggies and fruits.. then the legumes and tubers and all that stuff.
tofu, soy... soy things that taste like meat.. soy milk.. rice milk... almond milk.. YUM!
i watch my calories... 1300 a day... i keep on moving... (all this also helped my gerd)
this is a life long diet.. it took me 8 years to lose the weight i wanted but i'm still losing more.. just i never thought i was going to lose the weight.. ever ever! my weight loss happened a bit then stopped.. and i stayed straight on the same weight every day.. for years! (190) and it stayed and stayed... then one day i put on my clothes and was like OH OH oh no! ran to the bathroom pantry pulled out the scale... realized the batteries died.. put in new ones... broke a sweat and seen i was 160lbs.. i was like oh oh! gotta eat more beans!
so on.. i had chocolate soy milk that night and soy caviar with red wine.. (yeh i know red wine isn't vegan or veggi-tarian blah blah) but i was soo happy.
it helped me all over in the long run.. better sleeping.. no headaches.. blood pressure dropped.. no more pains in my back.. skin could tan finally.... no more dying of heat exhaustion while in the heat outside... walking without losing my breath... seeing better...
feeling better no more temper! that was nice! i felt a euphoria over all... even before i found out i lost more tonage.... it was like my brain came back to life!
and no more feeling congested and feeling like my heart is going to explode.
it was freaking wonderful.
i'll never go back.. nothing looks good to me what i used to eat it even stinks.. like delivery pizza.. chips.. t.v. dinners.... some candies.... so on.
fast food.
well i think you got the point.
it takes patience but time flies... then you realize wow... i'm hot stuff again! ya!
oh and the hair isn't falling out anymore and my well... um... well .. ok my ORGASMS are wonderful!
:D
there, sorry.

Weight watchers is a great plan for eating. After you go once and get the plan, you can stop going if you want.
