It sounds like you've been fed a line of crap by your half-wit, loser English teacher.
The middle class has been expanding and the "poor" are living the good life. The theory that we will all be poor and only 3 people will control all the wealth is proven wrong.
The middle class is so big now, that is has 3 divisions: upper, lower and middle. Most of the people in the country fall into the middle class category.
People who were born less than 50 years ago-and started out with nothing-are now multi-millionaires. (Take a look at the dropout who started Yahoo!) They are all over the place.
When thousands of moderate homes are selling for over $400,000 each-and have been for the past 10 years; it's obvious that the economy is bursting. Supply and demand. Anyone who wants to talk about the economy needs to go to the shopping mall on a Saturday and try to find parking.
Eveything costs more now because labor (the money people earn) is more expensive than it ever has been, but people can still afford to spend on non-essentials. Inflation is your proof that the wealth has been spread.

by ur definition anyone that works hourly for someone else is already a slave .. but true slavery is somthing that is imposed on an individual against their will and out of their control and the slave is reduced to property that has no rights ... this will never happen again barring some huge cataclysmic event that destroys the government as we now know it ... it could be possible in the future that if the country continues to decline towards tyranny and an ever increasing govt repression of the people, that the majority of the population could be reduced to forced labor and owning nothing ... its still not the same as being "owned" by a master though.

It has been around for quite a while, it just have not been that obvious. But sooner or later it can't be kept under radar.
As long as there are racist, bigots and people who wants to dominate others, to take advantage of others, to hurt others ... There will always be ways for slavery to come back.

slavery already exists in Africa, and much of eastern Europe.
As long as we keep having illegals willing to work for nothing, and employers happy to pay them nothing, then things will keep spiraling down for the average American worker.

I'm not sure if you're talking about slavery or indentured servitude. Either way, they're both still around -- it's kind of called life. We all answer to someone.

Already there is modern day slavery. But if working for someone richer then you makes you a slave. Then anyone who works for a living is a slave.

In my opinion, that's a bit too extremist. I don't believe slavery will return as in the old times.

It's never been gone. Just not as visible as it was. And often going under an assumed name.
