This would be the same thing as pondering the following: I'm a writer, what should I write, or I'm an actor, what should I perform, etc.

The answer is the same across all these types of questions: If you want to do this for 'fun' and semi-professionally (occasional gigs) -- do what you like. Everyone has something that they can connect with -- and only you ultimately know what works for you. It may be the type of music that you love, it may be certain lyrics of certains songs across many types of music, you may have your own songs that you want to perform -- there is no wrong song type as long as you stick to what you like.

If you want to do this professionally -- as a career -- you will also have to seriously consider what you style you best sound good at doing. This often has to do with pure natural skills, and your passion behind the style you choose. You can always improve your skills through experience and lessons -- and you should strive to improve at these things if you are serious about a professional path. And if you stick with what you like, your passion will show through and ultimately help showcase your natural skills.

Don't worry about which styles will make you the most money in the professional world -- I have found that you can be successful in any style -- as long as you are talented, hard working and passionate enough about your performances. Your audience will find you. So stay true to yourself, and you will attract the right crowds. Good luck!

Whatever you like the most and feel most comfortable singing would be good for you.

You can also record/tape yourself singing all different types of songs (country, rock, pop, gospel) to see which one the record company and yourself think is the best and would be your fortay. This way you all can hear how you sound for each style.

Congratulations on your career as a singer.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

If you have a record company, they'll have already known the basic type of music they want you to sing. Otherwise you wouldn't be signed, correct? They don't always go with what YOU want, they usually want you to do what's in demand right now or will be in demand based on the current trends. So if you are really signed, you should work with them, because they're trained in entertainment management and frankly I'm not. So good luck...

Sing what comes from your heart. You need to see what works for your voice. What will make your voice known to people. I think pop music or country. Try it and you may find out one of those are the right type of music for your voice.

what kind of music do you like the most? what kind of music speaks to you as an artist? when you figure that out, then that is a pretty big clue as to which genre of music you are suited for. some people have voices meant for r&b, or pop, or country, or standards, or dance, or rock, or latin, or metal, or hip hop, or opera, or whatever. but not everyone can handle every style of music.

but i think we need more people singing quality music, like nice AC or quality songs in whatever genre than actually transcend genres.

Strip and be a rapping bitsh...(No offense to you...it's just the common thing that fame seekers do)
Or be the most original "artist" to come u with new concepts that all the world will ook up too...but seeing the world has used up most of the ideas I'd say being 99% sure that you don't stand a chance...
For example I would listen to you if you'd become the first Female vocal in Extreme Metal...since no one's ever tried it before...but that's just my liking....
You come up with your own innovations...

You should sing whatever kind of music YOU like. The more you like what you're singing, the more feeling you'll put into each song.

You have to sing material that feels right for you. Ask yourself: What music do you enjoy? What lyrics can you understand and relate to? What makes you come alive and makes you feel like you are expressing yourself directly from your heart?

What do you think you sing better at? Try to sing at places and ask for advice on what music you sound better. =) Hope it works out for you.
