Same type of thing happens here (minus the wife thing) which is why I am on here today. Work comes in phases. If everything else about your job is great...just stick it out. It will get busy again and you will have more to do. As far as your boss goes...I hate to say it...but bosses can pretty much do what they please. Unless you want to make your situation uncomfortable at work...just keep your opinions about it to yourself.

Try creative ways to find worthwhile work activities, so that your boss will know that you are an asset to the company. Don't confront your boss with the situation with his wife. If all fails find another job. It's always easier to find a new job while you have a job.

Keep your eyes open and your mouth shut.May be since she is more expirienced and you are new, this will change in time and your workload will start to increase. If I was his wife and I found this out I might not be too happy about it .At any rate ,keep the appearance of looking busy so you can keep this godsend of a job.

What you do is stay out of the middle of their marriage. Please, there is something you can be doing. Offer to do an extra project, keep an eye out to why you love your job. Let the BOSS and his wife work the rest out and stop throwing out the jealousy to her. She is not spending time with her kids if she is doing your work, right?

Well I would secretly start looking for a new job.
If he realizes that he can get the wife to do it and save money by getting rid of your position, then you will be out soon.
Be creative, use some initiative to find other things that may need attention.

well maybe because she's been working with him longer he feels more comfortable having her do some projects.
Maybe ask if there are any projects you can work on or anything you learn to better assist him. Do the supplies need to be organized? Does he need some files made? Certainly you can find something to make yourself useful and his life easier.

Well there is always something to do, it just may not be in your job description..... A few years back when I was in retail I picked up the phrase "you've got time to lean, you've got time to clean"...... So, basically my point is, nothing is ever done, there will always be something to do wether its the work you got hired to do or washing out your boss's coffee cups.

Hell I am busy Monday and Tuesday and I have nothing to do the rest of the week. I know how you feel... be happy with it and work on other personal stuff to look busy or just answer questions on here...

Ask him stright out. Tell him that you need more to do, remember communication is the best way to get what you want.
Keep it constant but sweet the whole time. k? Be so nice your annoying (hopefuly it wont take that much for him to give you something to do). Ask everytime you see him and you have nothing to do. If this goes on quit.

Why are you complaining, if your boss yels at you for not doing work, tell him there is nothing to do. That may not be so wise after all though.
