Since the people asking the questions are the ones selecting the category, I think it's indicative that most people don't understand the meaning of special education as we use it here in the U.S. A lot of the people who inappropriately post questions here seem to be from other countries and are asking questions that perhaps would be better related to specialized courses of study. Maybe Yahoo should add some additional subcategories to the Education & Reference section, because I suspect that "special education" just becomes a catch-all for questions that don't seem to fit anywhere else.

You have to really pick through the questions here to find the ones that are truly about special education. There are some serious special education questions. This category does seem to get a lot of unrelated questions, though, but I suppose most other categories do as well.

Perhaps people are thinking that special education means an education in a specialized area of study. That's all I can think of. Maybe they don't realize what special education really is.

I agree with you. I see no questions that really have to do with Special Education.

I agree. I'm so tired of questions that are way miscategorized. You should check out the teen & preteen category under parenting, it's even worse.
