Can certain herbs cause abortion?
There are plants and herbs that are known to interfere with implantation of a fertilized egg or cause miscarriage, but none are considered reliable or safe. Many people are under the misconception that because something is natural, it is safe. Nothing could be further from the truth. Plants and herbs contain powerful substances, and because it is impossible to determine the proper potency and dosage, severe consequences can occur by ingesting them. You should not attempt to give yourself an abortion by any means.
If you do not want to undergo a surgical abortion, there are drugs that can be used in medical abortions. RU46, commonly referred to as "the abortion pill", is available in Europe and may become available in this country soon. Another option is a combination of two medications that a physician could prescribe that so severely impairs the function of the developing embryo that it is spontaneously aborted. Please discuss all your options with a caregiver before you make any decisions regarding your pregnancy.

I believe there are herbal midwives who could assist you with an abortion, giving you herbs, but the success rate is not defined where you would have to go through the surgical process. My mom tried the herbal ways since she got pregnant on birth control pills and well they didn't work and here I am. Lol. Good Luck to you, I hope everything works out.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and assume you use herbal medicines and are being cautious about not murdering your baby. My son's fiancee is a manager at GNC and she says no. But if you are trying to murder your baby, grow up be a woman and take care of what God has blessed you with.

Prim rose, blue and black cohosh will send you into labor in your last 2 months of pregnancy. I don't believe that they will cause you to have an abortion though. If that is what you are looking for go visit your local planned parenthood and they will give you some info and advice on what to do. You should also talk with an abortion counselor about your options.(planned parenthood will either have one at the clinic or will know where to send you to chat with one) Good luck

nope...just the abortion pill and the surgery.
sorry you have to go through that! I had to go through it myself about a year ago. Please be sure that you are sure thats what you want to do. I had an abortion and I cried so much right before the surgery. Then after, I thought nothing of it. I just blocked it out. BUT, apparently it is very common for women to block it out for the first 4 months and go on with your life normally. Then, it sets in, and you become VERY depressed and regretful. I thought I was doing the right thing, but now I totally regret it. It just wasnt right....I would rather be poor and suffering with my baby, that would be 4 months old right now, then to see babies all over and be sad that I killed it. SO HORRIBLE. But whatever you decide must be best for you....so, good luck, and I hope your life goes on happy!

why do people automatically call you a sicko and assume you are having an abortion? Perhaps you want to avoid an abortion and you take alot of herbal supplements. People are dumb on this site.

It is generally not advisable to take herbal remedies when your pregnant. I'm sure there's plenty that are safe, but in my view it's best not to risk it. If you want to abort, I know nothing.

NO. You are likely to hurt yourself and the fetus will be fine. Seriously, do not try to self-abort!

I've heard that black cohosh, taken in large doses can do the trick. But I tried it myself and it didn't work. I ended up going to planned parenthood and its $400 for the medical abortion and $500 for the pills (RU 486)

No. The only thing that can abort a baby is a medical procedure. If you suspect that you are pregnant, please seek professional help to make the best decision for you.
