Whenever people decide to lie instead of telling the truth it is because lying seems to make the most sense at the time. It might keep them from having to experience an uncomfortable moment. It might make them look better and more important. They might lie out of fear or uncertainty of what will result from the truth.
The problem is that usually lies catch up to people and whatever they were hoping to avoid at the time often gets them even worse in the end.

Cause they feel that the person cant take the truth. But i see no reason to lie, cause once you make up one lie, you have to build a whole castle on the one lie just to hide the truth. I think it is just more easiler to tell the truth then to sit down and think of a whole lie.

that is a question that I am stilling trying to understand. I don't think that anyone can answer that. I have my 10 year old lying to me and he knows how mad it makes me and he know I want to kill him when he lies to me. When he tell the truth nothing happens to him so I don't get it. When get in trouble for lying when you can't go wrong with the truth and just deal with it.
I don't know.

B'cuz they dont wanna get in trouble!!! But to hide one trruth u tell one lie u have to tell more! And if the person u r lying to finds out the truth ur in big trouble!!!!

Some people just want to stick in their comfort zone, and lie to make things easier. They think it is easier to get through by lying, instead of facing the fuss of punishments, arguments, etc.
However, some people do it out of good will, hoping that their friends/closed ones do not get hurt.
Some people do it to get to their goals... and are plain selfish.

not everything is neither good or bad. heard of "white lies"?
as they used to say " whatever you dont know wont hurt you".
can one take it as a "no answer" to a question? if not, a lie might satisfy the curiousity.
