most people are jews? come again. Jews make up less than one quarter of one percent of the world's population.

The fervor over Mr. Gibson's remarks are simply due to 2 things. 1) he's a controversial famous person who got himself into trouble and made it worse when he opened his mouth and 2) there is a certain sensitivity to anti-semitic tirades in the face of Holocaust just 60 years ago.

So the whole media blitz is just to disparage Mr. Gibson.

As for what I think you're trying to get at, which is the alleged Jewish controlled media, need I remind you that a heinous, terroristic hate crime was perpetrated against Jews the same day that Mr. Gibson's troubles made the news that has been essentially buried by the 'jewish-controlled media'. That incident, in Seattle, involved a pakistani muslim who, after being incited at friday sermon in his mosque, sought out a jewish organization, picking the Seattle Jewish Federation, bought a gun, kidnapped a 14-year old girl, gained entrance to the federation building by force and randomly shot 6 women, killing one. Why was that story buried by the 'jewish-controlled' press?

Don't have an answer, do you? Didn't think so.

First of all: punctuation is a good thing. Periods make it easy to tell when on sentence ends and another begins.

Yes, it would be every bit as bad if he made an anti-Arabic or anti-black comment.

And everybody cares because this is America, and we know what the important news is. Yeah there are wars going on in Iraq and Lebanon, Kim Jong Il has nukes, and Israel and Lebanon are fighting, but who cares? A celebrity got pulled over for drunk driving and then proved that he really is that stupid.

His remarks were dumb, insensitive, intolerant, and untrue (Jews are not the cause of all wars! That's stupid!) But they are his opinion, and he has a right to say them. Good luck finding work in the movies, though, Mel, now that your true colours have come out and you can no longer deny them.

Some people are excusing him because he was drunk. But alcohol doesn't change your personality, it just lowers your inhibitions. It puts your internal censor to sleep, and allows you say things that you think, but would ordinarily stop yourself from saying out loud.

What bugs me most about this, though, is that in all the turmoil about his remarks, people are completely forgetting that he was driving while intoxicated. That is by far the bigger crime. Someone could have been killed by his reckless behaviour, and all people care about is what he said when he was being arrested.

I don't agree with his statements, or like the fact that he made them, but come on, people, let's get our priorities straight.

Whether you like it or not, people with high visibility have a tacit responsibility to refrain from making prejudicial comments. Dodgers GM AL Campanis got fired a few years ago for stating that African-Americans "didn't have the tools to be executives" in the major leagues. TV personality Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder got fired for similar statements.

Its because Mel Gibson is a huge celebrity and its not everyday that you hear him say something as controversial as that in public. But then again, he was drunk when he said it so I don't know why people are making such a big deal about it either.

What ever. in case you heard a number of the failings different directors say you're able to under no circumstances watch something. He had slightly too a lot wine, were given pulled over, and made some dumb comments. It occurs to a large type of persons. he's in straightforward words human. merely because he made a movie about Jesus does no longer advise he has to act like Jesus. boost up already.

fans worshhip celebrities so when they say something NEGATIVE, it feels like the world has come to an end. this is just the life of being a celebrity. but of course, if he was not a celebrity, the media would not publicize it. mel's drunkedness finally let the truth come out of him. this is how he really felt about these people. what goes up must come out.

Uh, probably because 6 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust by people who think like our boy Mel

I think it has to do that we all still feel the Jewish community needs protecting, and this comes from the immense persecution they suffered in WWII at the hand of the Nazis. So just like a child who hurt themselves, we over-protect them, and so anything against them is a really big deal.

I think it is because the Jewish people have had enough done to them through out the years that everyone feels they have had enough already. Not to mention the fact the Gibson was all holier than thou as he was making Passion of the Christ.
