I recently moved out of an apartment complex in Atlanta Georgia, wherein I had accidently left a foot sized bleach stain on the carpet, on moving I had asked the apartment guys for a walk through but thay wanted to do that on their own schedule, left the forwarding address with them and did everything to ensure a perfect exit....less than a month later i recieved a bill of $500 because they had changed the entire carpet of the apartment and wanted us to foot the bill.My concern is: we were not taken in the loop at all, they had'nt been transparent enough in explaining the rules and the authorities never responded to our questions and gave us anything in writing...we are now paying the amount but under protest.I want a fair opinion and understanding of this issue and also the contact detail of any federal authority which can help us through.

Bleach is not a stain. Bleach removes color. You cannot undo what bleach has done. And 500 dollars for the replacement of carpet is a damn good deal.

You have no option but to pay the bil because the carpet was ruined. You can't remove bleach from a carpet, nor can you splice together another piece to get rid of the bleach spot.

you should have used rit dye to recolor the carpet.....would have cost you about $20, but atleast you wouldn't have to pay for new carpet.

if the stain happened while you were the ocupant you will have to pay it or they will probly put it on your credit report.
