Tat tvam asi. This is a mahavakya (great saying) of Vedanta philosophy. Tvam signifies individual self and Tat signifies Universal Self. Thus individual self is identical with, or better, non-different from, Universal Self.

ego is like a wave in the ocean,

wave is nothing but the ocean there is no difference,
it is born in it stays for sometimes and disappers into it...

if there is no ocean then there is no wave at all...

so the difference is in degree....one has independent existance...and the other is dependent on it....

when you are able to see the wave and the ocean as nothing but the ocean....then you realize that it is all one...the one without a second...

thou art that....

as long as you see ocean and the wave as different...you have a ego...and when you realize the truth , the ego dissappers into the ocean....

the phenonmenon of seeing "name and form" in the infinite undivided existance is what is called as maya ......

If everything is the ocean , then why did u see the wave as seperate..??

thats coz of maya.....or illusion....

they are separate in as much as ...

what the IS reflects is greatly limited by this world, this experience, this time and place.

the US has a much broader palete to link with, and therefor, can not be the same - identical.

So ... while the 2 selves are neither separate nor identical, they are "bonded" while, at once, as unique as unique can be.
