I would suggest asking your friends if they have an old one. I know that I have an old mini I'm not using, and my sister has a shuffle that she doesn't use since we got better ones for Christmas. I don't want to bother with e-bay, but if a friend asked, I'd give it to them for $20. Just ask, see if anyone has one with a so-so battery or maybe a scratch on the screen, they'll practically give it away.

shuffles are ok I had one...I agree the only way to get it really cheap is get a used one, try ebay, or maybe ask around people you know, maybe they know of someone looking to upgrade and you can buy one off them.

don't get cheap. Save up a little extra and get a nano.
A refurbished 1 gig nano costs only $109.
