yeah, sometimes it bothers me.... but i dont get annoyed. maybe because im used to it... in our country (PHILIPPINES) we abbreviate words when we communicate through our cellphones when we send text messages or SMS (to save character space so we can type in more words, usually one SMS is limited to a 160 characters). i guess that is why others have used the abbreviation technique when they go online. some people also use the "drop vowel technique", for example, people becomes ppl, 3 characters shorter than the original as long as its readable and understandable.

i dont think it makes them sound stupid... I think it makes them sound LAZY... i mean, there is a difference between typing the complete spelling and typing the shortened one... im not against to this as there are times when i use this technique but i see to it that its proper.

Well I know its not proper English, but I am from the South and I talk proper but the only thing I say inproper is dat. I cant help it because I was raised down here but I talk really good because my cousin always told me the proper things to say and I dont have that country accent though.. But I still slang a little. I cant help it becaused I was raised down here. And I definetly cant talk like people that were raised up north. But I do talk very very clearly though.

Thanks for reading and understanding my point.

It's a way of irritating others. I notice that a lot of people that listen to rap and hip hop, talk this way to sound "cool". I guess they don't want to get their point across or have the ability to talk to others outside their groups that also talk that way. It's a shame because it does make them sound stupid.

It is very annoying to hear people replace words like that. These people are usually the ones that act like retarted Chimps anyway so it makes them sound as stupid as they look and act.

It may sound stupid but that is they way some people speak , maybe they speak this way as a slang but are intelligent people. I know personally that I can blend with the best. I can speak what every lingo that fits me in.

Bad is good and good is bad in this ridiculous, updside down, politically correct world today. At least we're free to walk away from stupid people.

It annoys people a lot (including myself) so I would try to avoid doing that before you get into the habit.
If you are already in the habit, try to concentrate on replacing the 'd' with 'th'.

I'm right there with ya!!
I try to not be judgemental...especially by the way a person speaks!
But it does grate on my nerves.

Another one that really gets me is when people pronounce the word 'asked', like 'axed'. grrrr.....I know I shouldn't be so anal, but it bugs me!!
OK---got that off my chest & now I feel better. LOL!!
