Grass?
If that is what you meant... How long has it been "dead"? If it's just the season, it's not dead, it's dormant. It is normal for grass to go dormant during it's 'off' season, just like most other plants. What that season is depends on where you are.
Just water it & it'll come back.
Please..... don't put chems on it!!!
If you've used chemical fertilizers in the past that could be a large part of your problem. They kill hte microbes in the soil & your plants have a much harder time dealing w/ the weather, be it heat or cold. The ground gets hard & the roots have a hard time penitrating it. The ground also sheds water, instead of soaking in & the plants die of thirst.
Get some organic compost, or manure if it's available, put it in a barrel to soak into a tea. water w/ that tea. Your grass will LOVE it!
Also, water very early in the morning, so that the water is available for growth during the day. Dont' water at night, the soil w/ be damp all night, which allows allsorts of bad bacteria & fungi to grow then it'll be dried out by the morning & your plants won't have it to use for ggrowth or handling the heat.
