The other day I was lifting weights and right as I was extending I felt a pounding pain in my head. It was one of the weirdest things I've ever had happen to me. Anyways, it was very painful for about an hour. The headache stuck around for a day or two although it wasn't nearly as painful as the initial hour long one was. The pain went away for a few days so I decided I would work out again. Today the exact same thing happened. I'm in the process of calling doctors and chiropractors but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas. Thanks.

It does sound like a chiropractor is in order here. Have you recently changed to greater weights or done something else differently that might have caused a strain? Strained muscles can pull the spine out of alignment, especially the neck.

I would suggest you go back to about 1/2 the weight you are lifting, for a few days, then gradually work back up to where you were when the headaches started. Also very important to do stretches before and after a workout.

Other things that you might want to check are your blood pressure, which can cause a headache that starts at the back of the head and moves up over to the top of the head and forehead; and blood sugar - do you go to the gym on an empty stomach and have you ever had low blood sugar?

It could be serious. May be excess pressure on your nerves. stop lifting weights and consult your doctor.
