looking for some figures, or a website where I can type in the word, and it gives me the symbol.

In addition to thorough research, I also suggest going to an artist that can read and write in Chinese. The angle and direction of the brush strokes are very important... the typical stylization of tattoos can render even a correct design to jibberish.

It's not really what you asked, but I'm wondering... Why Chinese characters in particular? Obviously you don't know Chinese yourself. I know oriental-themed tattoos are trendy, but perhaps you'd be better off getting a tattoo based on your own artwork since you're trying to show your dedication to your art. Just a thought!

Find someone who speaks Chinese, I have heard horror stories of people getting tattoos that mean the wrong thing, just because some website says its true doesnt mean it is. In fact, ask several people to make sure there is consensus.
