These two were in a relationship for three years. They broke up but continued to live in the same house for a year b/c of money restraints. I've known them for the entirety of their relationship. I became involved with one of them. Since their post relationship friendship wasn't working I suggested moving in with me and being roomies. This has been working out until now. Ex calls daily and tries to play silly jealousy head games with my partner, hense my question. I feel like I know the answer but need to hear other opinions to be fair in my reaction. To add icing on this doosey I got nosey and heard a cell phone message that was to the tune of..."I'm in the area...was wondering if you want to (chuckles) come meet me for a minute." (It was 2am) My partner never got the message. Asleep. Plus I erased the darn thing. Woops. ;-)

Received wisdom states that friendship is not normally possible immediately after a break-up and if one partner is attempting to maintain it then s/he wants the other one back.

Friendship eventually after a relationship may be possible (usually dependant on whether or not those involved were friends before they were lovers) but only after a few years have passed and both have had at least one other partner in the interim period.

The situation you detail suggests that that your current partner's ex did not want their relationship to end and the best possible thing you and your partner can do is cut them off. It will be best for them in the long rung as it will prompt them to look elsewhere. Then friednship can be salvaged at some point down the line. The alternative will at some point be a blazing row which could cut them off for ever.

That defiantly sounds fishy to me and at two in the morning???? You need to talk to your partner because something is going on. I do not think there is much trust in your relationship and you cannot have a relationship with no trust!
