If you mean your thumb and pinky, thats more of a surfing sign. The pointer finger and pinky is a rock sign supposedly invented by Gene Simmons of Kiss or so he says.

Basically means: "rock on". It became most popular at 80's rock/metal concerts far as I know - probably because of the devil horn look.

I don't know about teenagers, but in my family we are Rams fans, and thats what we do at the football games. For us it makes a ram head with horns.
