Well . . . there are two possible answers to your question.
1) If you are talking about RAM (memory), then it is a simple task of finding out what kind of RAM your system takes (DIMM, SIMM, DDR, etc.), finding out how many slots your system can support and buy some memory that will give you a GB or two of memory.
2) If you are talking about space to store files, then you will need to get a hard drive that has how much GB you would like (I've got one 250GB hard drive and one 250GB external Maxtor hard drive). If you have IDE connections inside your computer, you can typically have up to two hard drives in your computer - but this may differ as some motherboards support more than one IDE connection or perhaps you have a SATA connection.
It would be hard to find a hard drive anymore that has less than 20GB.
End state: If you are looking for more memory, get memory chips (RAM); if you are looking for more storage for files on your system, get a bigger hard drive. Each can be found with 1GB or more, but memory may be limited to what your computer can support. You may find your motherboard can only support up to 512MB.

You can't just install gigabytes into your computer, they'll just run all over the place and they stain.
Seriously, if you're talking about memory, then you need to buy a memory stick of at least a gigabyte and install it in a free memory slot. If you're talking about hard disk drive space then you need to find out what kind of hard drive you system supports (ATA or SATA) and purchase a new one, format it, and then you can use the gigabytes on that.

Are you referring to hard drive or more memory?
If you want to install more RAM memory into your computer, then its really simple. A hard drive is a bit more trickier since you have to basically take out the old one and then you have to make sure you plug all the correct adapters back into your new hard drive.
If you need more help, just contact me. I can be more thorough if you give me details.

u can not increase the size of your current harddrive, you have to buy a new one, it has to be compatible with ur system, because there are standards like ide sata etc, to be sure when u buy a new one u could take ur old one with u to the store, furthermore u need to have a free slot to install it too, meaning the cable which goes to ur harddrive, usually u can attach at least 2 drives to such cables, or alternativly u can install it on the cable with ur cd/dvd drive, u can also buy a pci extension card, they are controller cards on which u can attach more deviced like harddrives etc but then again u need a free pci slot and a card that is supported with ur operating system

Oh Dear.. you mean a new Hard Drive?
Gigabites are amount of storage space on a hard drive. It's a HARDWARE thing that requires you to open up the computer.. Please don't try this, go see a professional.

if you mean hard drive space, you can just buy an external hard drive that plugs in to your usb port.
