I always thought that was true. But anyone can have an open mind regardless of their political position.

I think it tends more to be that people who maintain an open mind eventually become liberal. Liberals tend to think that just because they don't think something is right for them, doesn't mean it should be illegal for everyone. For instance, a liberal could be pro-life and pro-choice, In that they personally would never have an abortion but would never want to take the choice from everyone else. Maybe there are people who just shouldn't have kids? Should a woman who's been raped be required by law to have the child? if you think abortion should be illegal that's what your saying. remember that the law applies to everyone all the time no matter why they want what they want. I have 2 kids, my joy in life, but they are a lot of work, I don't think you should have them if your not ready. Its not fair to you or them.

I don't think either anyone that is ultra conservative or ultra liberal can be considered open minded.
Those leaning towards the middle of the road are the only ones able to see both sides of the coin and makes choices that don't ride a party line. Middle of the roaders vote their conscious, not what their party necessarily tends to TELL them to vote.
Anyone who is an extremist, in anything, is closed minded in my opinion.

They see themselves as more open minded, but because they have been open to ideas they already agree with. It is like visiting fifty countries and going to the airport in them and then saying you took in the place, but you were afriad to leave the safety of the airport and discovery the truth for yourself.

Dictionary.com defines liberal as not limited to, or by established, traditional, orthodox or authoritarian attitudes or views; open to new ideas and also generous. The definition alone answers your question.

by using fact they are not liberals. maximum of those human beings right here declare to be liberals by using fact they chosen to be on the different factor from Bush/ their mum and dad/whoever. they don't know what the liberal platform is, and that they truthfully don't have the values of a genuine liberal.

Yes, they are open-minded about rape, child-molesting, 2 million abortions a year, and they are VERY open minded about the tax payer wallet.
