The shot of Depo Provera is effective birth control for 13 weeks. If you had a shot last July 8 then it is 5 weeks by tomorrow .You are supposed to have your next shot on October 7 but it will be useful to schedule your next shot slightly earlier than that. If you will be more than a week late for your next shot, use a backup method of birth control for the next two weeks. If you will be more than a week late for your shot and you have had unprotected sex , consider taking a pregnancy test before receiving the next dose.
You should not be worried for having no or irregular periods Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding at all are common side effects of Depo Provera. Many women stop having periods after a year of use. Lack of a period is common with longer use.
Its effectivity rate is 97-99% so it means there is a percentage of failure which is usually an interaction from another medicine just like medicines for Cushing Syndrome. Anyway if you are worried about pregnancy due to absence of menses you can do a pregnancy test before taking your next shot.

Please use a condom b/c that shot is not only not healthy its confusing and with all the changes they have done on you you don't even know if you are protected right now. But hey next time you go see that new doctor ask him all the questions. I thought on the shot you didn't get your period? I'm really not sure how it works all I know is that its horrible. My friend was on that stuff for years she rarely got her period, she gained about 50 pounds or more, she was just always sick, depression and then some and she was said to have a very slim chance of ever having a child after she got off it. Now that she doesn't use that **** shes very slim, healthy energetic and outgoing. But she still has irregular periods and the chances of her ever conceiving has gone down to about a 20 % chance doctors say...

relax. i have been on depo for 11 years and dont get my period at all. you go 13 weeks between shots. depo is the most accurate birth control available. as long as you are not obese, it is very effective. stop stressing. i love depo. dont listen to people who arent on it. it stops your period because your body isnt producing what it needs to have a period. you are not pregnant.

I have to disagree with the first answer. I know a girl that got pregnant with both of her kids while on the depo shot. It isn't as effective as advertised. Hate to burst your bubble, but it's probably one of the least effective contraceptives because people's bodies react to it differently.

many years in the past I took a sequence of three epidural steroid pictures wondering each and every time must be extra effective - it wasn't. I had a lot of an same negative uncomfortable side consequences and they took weeks if no longer months to positioned on off. I favor the soreness......
