Very good question, and yes you are right. There are different 'types' of consciousness, all working in a similar way. First you get 'individual' consciousness, whereby your own thoughts, words, deeds, beliefs, feelings etc create your own physical reality.
But when you get groups of humans thinking in similar ways, you get 'collective consciousness.' This works in similar ways to individual consciousness, but is magnified many times over because there are so many more people involved. The collective thoughts, words, deeds and so on of a group of people, will produce their collective reality. This works for defined sociological communities (such as districts, or cities and towns) or a certain societal group such as the youth community, the gay community, the Hindu community etc.
Is an area crime-ridden? Maybe the collective consciousness of its residents is one of fear. Is a city on the decline? Maybe its residents' collective consciousness is one of having past its sell-by date. Is a company prospering? Maybe its employees are thinking and acting prosperously. Is a nation encountering uprising and revolution? Maybe its residents collectively feel that it's time for a change.
Look around at certain groups, and you can tell if their collective consciousness is either positive or negative. There will always be a return on the ways they are thinking: Britain was quite a dour and negative place in the late 70s and early 80s, and our 'return' for that was hyper-inflation, inner city riots, industrial disputes, and the 'Winter of Discontent.'
My home town has been quite a positive and funky place since the mid-90s, and has been 'rewarded' with a revamped nightlife quarter, much-improved shopping opportunities, many new jobs and a thrice-promoted football team. Londoners have been buoyant since the New Millennium, and have been 'rewarded' with enduring prosperity and the 2012 Olympics.
Types of consciousness are created, nurtured and perpetuated by word of mouth on one level, and mass media on another.

Not just yes, oh yeah, you bet, boy is that right!!
You have solved one of the mysteries,
the secret of life.
Here it is.
We are all connected through this, what you call collective consciousness.
God's there.
He has a bit up on us though.
He is it, all of it, the total.
We are the parts.
That is not to say that we are lesser or any such thing.
We are His fullness when we all come together.
You are really doing some deep diving.
Now all you need to do is add in love and that about sums it all up.
Love
Connection
Peace, Joy, and Love to all!!

I am beginning to think so... not sure what it is, but there is definitely something... human beings collectively can "make" things true... for example social values etc...
