Some intolerance is acceptable as in the intolerance of criminal activity. I was speaking more along the lines of religious intolerance and intolerance of different view points and opinions. I apologize, I should have been more specific.

If you are intolerant of opinions or beliefs that are different from yours, yes you are intolerant. Now, criminal activity and everything that is against the law, or violates a person's rights, don't fall under things that you can tolerate or not.

Once we become aware of being intolerant then there is a responsibility of choose, to accept that we are, or see that we want to change it. As I see it one has rewards and one has consequences. The rewards are a open mind and the acceptance of people for who they are. The consequences are a closed mind, prejudice, feeling separated from others and escalating a negative element. The cycle can be broken, it starts with you.

Yes, since "intolerance In its everyday form is an attitude expressed through angry argumentation, looking down at people because of their characteristics or viewpoints, negatively portraying something due to one's own prejudice, etc." *

Tolerance is the way to go since, through tolerance, we can "disagreeing peaceably." Emotion differentiates intolerance from tolerance. It's best to be respectful when we disagree, & to keep our emotions in check.

simply learn to grow indifferent to intolerance. instead of becoming intolerant to intolerance, be indifferent to it, detach yourself from it and in doing so transcend the cycle. detachment is often the key in vicious cycles
