ask your doctor. tylenol and motrin (or their store brand counterparts) are usually what is recommended. I only give that stuff to my kids if they actually get a fever from their shots AND seem miserable. As far as the pain at the site of the shot, massaging it can help and I also discovered that baby vicks vaporub acts as a deep heat. Last time one of my kids had shots, I rubbed that on the site every 4 hours or so and my son wasn't grumpy or whiny at all.

Some docs will suggest giving a little Tylenol BEFORE you go in for the shots.

I would suggest rubbing some arnica oil on the injection site afterwards and nursing WHILE they give the shot. (NO...baby WILL NOT bite you like some people think. If I jabbed a sharp needle in your leg, you'd open your mouth to yell, not clamp down to bite.)

Remember no Motrin until 6 months of age. Tylenol is okay before then.

We always give Tylenol Infant Drops right before we leave for the appointment so it has time to take effect. We usually get a sample from the pediatrician's office, so we know exactly what our doctor recommends... and it's free.

You can only give tylenol, motrin isn't until they are 6 Months my dr says 0.4 of the dropper give it like 10 minutes before you go to the doctor so it has time to take affect, however doen't wear off.

The doctor will tell you preferably tylenol, since its safer than motrin. Motrin got a bad wrap after their medicine started giving children seizures and brain damage. But go by what your pediatrician tells you, since they keep up on everything.

How old is your child? For babies younger than six months, Infant Tylenol is recommended. For babies six months or older, Infant Advil is recommended. (The doseage is by weight, and is listed on the back of the bottle.)

Do not ever give your baby Baby Aspirin.
