Yes- Azrael is right- the answer is "language"... its a play on words... you're supposed to start thinking of words that end in "gry" but the riddle is actually, "there are only three words in 'the English language'- what is the 3rd word?" obviously, language...

why am I explaining this?? I'll stop now.

"Language" is correct.

The riddle is like one most people know:

Railroad crossing, watch out for the cars. How can you spell it without any r's?

The answer to the RR riddle is "I-T". Both riddles have a first sentence which diverts your attention and have nothing to do with the real question.
