Why would one want to be straight?

2006-08-11 03:26:58 · answer #1 · answered by Optimistic 6 · 3 4

Why would one want to be straight? did you have any choice to make...if so, when did you make it? At what age did you wake up and decide to be Straight? This is a very serious question, not a rude comment. When did you really think about it? Well, I guess your answer is, "I never decided anything, that is how I am." Why do you have the nerve to even think that Gays have it any different, except that everyone of them wanted to be striaght, to fit in, to take the easy road. And it didn't work out that way...they have been Gay since birth. Don't be a fool, no one chooses the hard road. YOUR question implys that being Gay is a more fun thing to be in life, for if it were a matter of choice, and people "chose it," there must be a damned good reason. IF this is how you think, why didn't you choose to be Gay.???? Sit back and think about it for a while. IF you think it is still a matter of choice, then get to work and tell me the day, the time, etc. that you chose to be Straight. Good luck

No one choose this path it's just the path they ended up on. People tend to know they are gay from the time they begin to understand as a child. It's something that they are simply born with and something that they can't just stop being. It's within them although some people don't act on their feelings cause they fear being judged. Therefore most people try and be with the opposite sex and get married even have kids but in the end they end up unhappy. Then comes heart ache for them and their wives which is something they didn't intend on inflecting on them. So therefore people are Gay because that's truly what's always been in their hearts all along.

I think the real question should be "Would anyone choose to be gay?" I would not, but I have nothing against gays. My best friend is pretty gay and he is still my friend. I don't know, people are people to me, I don't care if your gay or straight. Unless your a girl that I want to be with then I am hoping your straight!

I disagree with everybody else, I say being gay is a choice but not like an overnight choice, it takes time for it to happen. It starts with looking at one person of same sex then tomorrow it's two, then the next day four and so on... until they finally realize "hey I'm gay!"
Now even though I'm not gay, that's the way it happened for me with girls, I looked at one, looked again, and just kept looking...

No one WANTS to be gay. It is something that develops early in life, although often remains dormant until later. Gays have existed throughout history, and considering the personal and social hell that so many of them endure, especially in the past, should be proof enough that anyone in his right mind would never simply choose to be gay.

One theory is that it is genetic. Another theory is that it is a result of early emotional experiences. There is no clear explanation as yet.

People are born gay. It's not a choice.

If people could just choose their sexual orientation, you wouldn't see gay people commiting suicide because they can't deal with the stigma of being gay. They would just be straight instead!

There was an NFL football player who finally came out of the closet about being gay maybe 5 years ago. He had hired many many female prostitutes to try and force himself to be straight, multiple suicide attempts, all because he felt ashamed of being gay and knew if would not be accepted by those around him. If he could choose not to be gay, don't you think he would have?

I have a niece who was brought up in a good family no other family member is gay in our family but a distant cousin who we never see. She is gay and came out of the closet about 2 years ago. Had to be a hard thing to do since none of us are going to understand. If she wasn't born that way then wouldn't it be more simple for her to go for the opposite sex. Let them be who they want to be it is thier life and they have to live it happily.

because they have mental problems. really: I've talked to a shrink and said that those persons either have been molested in childhood, either were rejected by the opposite sex too many times(for some reason), either they have experienced not a nice for the first time because it happened at the wrong age, with the wrong person, etc. Anyway..it's a sin!
That's why we are man and women. To get along. And make love! Cause otherwise we were only man or only women!
