You have to remember that their little stomachs can't hold alot of food at one time. I'm sure that if he's waking up its because he is hungry not just because he wants to be held or whatever. You can try mixing rice baby cereal with the formula or BM at his last feeding before bedtime. Start with mixing it thin & then you can gradually make it thicker. Be sure to use rice since its the easiest for babies to digest. I did this with my babies & they were sleeping 8 hours at night by 4 weeks of age. I know alot of Drs.nowadays say no solids before 6 months but it didn't hurt my babies at all. Just whatever you decide to do. lol

Hi:
Yes, as the mother of a 8 month-old I do find that my infant wakes up the same time every morning for food. It is amazing that they have such a well tuned internal clock.
I have found that this happens depending on when he last ate and how long it has been since his last feeding. At 3 months you infant may be too young to make it through the night, but if the early morning feedings are becoming a little bit tiresome for you two things that you can do is: 1. Feed the baby a formula( if formula fed) that tends to stay down longer because it is heavier. For example, Enfamil AR Lipil.
2. Feed your infant close to the time you want him/her to go to sleep instead of hours before. That tummy full before they go to bed seems to help them stay asleep longer.
One more thing you can try is to gently help your baby stay awake a little longer during the day. Then he/she will be really tired and that can help him/her to sleep longer as well. It worked for my little one.
Oh, one more thing that I just remembered it to make sure you change his/her diaper before you go to bed because sometimes a very wet diaper can be so uncomfortable that the infant wakes up.
Good luck.

All babies have natural patterns that they fall into, maybe not within the first few weeks after birth but by three months afterwards you tend to see patterns. It's interesting its always the same exact time for you, but it's common for a child to wake up consistently in the night, or to wake up consistenly during the day for food, or a particular period on the night. Babies don't really have any sort of time zone concept.

Yup. Babies are started on a feeding schedule in the hospital. I didn't start weening my babies off the night time or early morning bottle until they were off the liquid diet and on solid food. This way I knew for a fact they were not hungry just needed to be pacified like some of us who need a mid-night snack (lol). To break this early morning schedule I would give them flavored water in a bottle. Eventually I caught on to leaving a bottle of water with the "Cross Cut Nipples" (to prevent leakage) in their crib when I put them down for the night. After this, I never heard a peep out of them 'till the sun came up. Only when they were ill, then I was prepared for night time cuddling, comforting and necessary meds.

Yes, I do find that my five month old baby wakes up the same times early in the morning. I think she is on a time schedule or something. It's like clockwork.

Your just commenting right? Not complaining or asking how to stop this? Babies and children thrive on routine and if your child develops their own good on them. As they get bigger and the feeds they take get bigger so the amount of sleep time increases. This happens naturally without any pushing from the parents. Each child needs different amounts of sleep so they will set their own body clocks. As long as the don't switch to staying awake all night and sleeping all day then just enjoy the fact that for now at least life has SOME stability.

My son woke between 3 and 3:15 for feedings. Some people told me to let him cry it out, but he was really hungry. I think little ones need to know that their needs are going to be met. Not a big fan of crying through hunger.
Once he was old enough to eat a bowl of rice cereal and fruit before bed, I replaced the 3 o'clock feeding with a bottle of water. A week later he was sleeping through the night. That was around 6 months. Aren't babies amazing!

apparently you baby's body is on a schedule. Be thankful that you're not waking up a various times through out the week for feedings. Please do not take advise about giving cereal right now unless instructed to do so by your baby's pediatrican, your baby is too young and should be 6 months before you introduce any form of solid food.

They are trained for that feeding. You should delay going to feed them, five minutes each day and eventually they will go longer and longer before wanting to be fed. Understand?
DO NOT try cereal. 3 months old only need BM or Formula. Cereal doesn't help babies sleep either. People who say cereal or solids just don't understand or know the facts.
The baby isn't necessarily HUNGRY, but they are USED to getting fed at a certain time. Hungry or not.

That is because you have the baby on a schedule....Try feeding some cereal just before you put the baby to bed for the night...try keeping the baby awake a little longer also...
