kind of. In my Nan's house whenever i'm upstairs i'm terrified, feel like something is watching me.I've always had that feeling there, i've stayed over several times when i'm on holiday in England and it takes me ages to get to sleep. Other people (aunt, cousins and one of my mates) have mentioned it as well, and the scary thing is that i had never said to them first about how i felt - so i know now that its definately not just in my head.
I also later found out that the furniture upstairs was the same furniture that my Nan had in her old house - which everybody says was definatly haunted - including my dad who is a tough guy, very hard to scare him!
Also in a house that my partner and i rented there was something strange that used to happen every night anytime between 10 pm and midnight. I'd be sitting there on my own some evenings if i'd got off work early and could hear footsteps coming up the stairs. The house had two flights of stairs and our t.v. room was on the first floor, the door to it was right next to the first landing.
The footsteps sounded so real, and although at first my boyfriend and a housemate we had used to say it was just the "floorboards settling as it's an old house" they later realised that i wasn't imagining things. I used to grab the telephone each time i heard the footsteps coming closer up the stairs and towards the door, ready to call the cops, but everytime they would stop outside the door.
Also every night as i made my way up the 2nd flight of stairs to go to bed i had an overwhelming feeling that someone was watching me from the bottom of the stairs! Still freaks me out now thinking about it.
Thankfully theres nothing like that in our new place.

I had one last year. On the day of my grandmother's funeral all of the family was at her house. We were all just sitting around and talking. The doorbell rang but when we went to open the door no one was there. After that my uncle was taking things to the funeral like pictures and things to remember her by. So out of nowhere one of my grandmothers dolls fell from off of the table. I guess that was her telling us to bring the doll too.
It couldn't have been someone playing a doorbell prank because my grandmother lived in the country and I don't think people would be going door to door ringing the doorbell.

I used to work in a hotel that had a reputation for being haunted. We used to try and scare each other all the time so where always sceptical when we heard strange noises. One weekend I had to go to the cellar to get supplies for the bar. When I opened the door at the top of the stairs to the cellar I could hear boxes and barrels being moved around. I shouted down to who ever it was that it wasn't funny, but the noise continued. After asking several times for an answer I closed the door and locked it. I went back 20 minutes later and shouted down that if they didn't reply I'd lock the door for the weekend. Still no reply just the sound of large objects being moved. I locked the door and left it for 4 hours until my shift ended. Again I offered the opportunity for who ever was in the cellar to come out, no reply. By this time everyone at the hotel was aware of what was going on. The decision was made to lock up for the night. No staff where missing and we really didn't fancy going down to see what was making the noise. I had to start early the next morning setting up for breakfast. Myself and the duty manager couldn't resist going back to the cellar. We unlocked the door and peered into the dark. After a few seconds we heard what we thought was a groaning noise then there was a rush of cold air that shot up the stairs that felt like it went straight through you. The duty manager, Dave, screamed that he could see a face on the stairs as the air rushed up. I never saw it. We slammed the door closed and just ran. When we dashed into reception Dave was shaking with fear, really beside himself. White as a sheet. I was freaked out by it all. No one would go anywhere near the cellar all day. We could never explain what it was. Both myself and Dave left within weeks of it happening I couldn't cope with being there. Still, years later, I can still feel the sensation of that air rushing through me.

i don't know whether i would class it as 'ghostly' but one night when my husband was away on business (and he rarely went away) a few things happened that i would probably say was a 'mischievous' thing messing around. first off, the large photo of my young boy came crashing down from the wall hanging. then my ironing board fell to the floor (it had been on the same hook for 5 years) man that made one heck of a crash...i could hear my heart beating in my ears. then just after midnight my hifi stereo turned itself on and played the CD that was in there...it was pasty cline....'i was walking after midnight......!' gulp...i was absolutely terrified. now either my husbands handy work only lasted about 5 years (ie: the hook holding up my ironing board) the photo was also on a faulty hook, and... i had accidentally set off my stereo to turn on just exactly at midnight that night. (it was possible, it had a timer/alarm) but i had no idea how to work it or use it....so yes...that is one heck scary night for me....either way....totally terrifying.

I have. A dude was watching me while I was sleeping. I woke up and saw him standing over me and staring at me. I screamed like a freak and fell on the floor and crawled into the hallway where my mom came out and asked what was wrong. I told her about the guy and made her check my room for him. I was 19! My sister had the same experience in the same bedroom. I believe she was about 19 also.

No. That is, I've had several experiences that would make really good ghost stories if I chose to tell them in a certain, uncritical, way, and there have been times when I've scared myself out of my wits. But I suffer from CLOD syndrome - Cold Light Of Day; when examined rationally, there was nothing in my subjective experiences that required acceptance of the preternatural.

Yes, when I was younger. My parents house is really old, and I had the entire upstairs to myself. They didn't have air conditioning upstairs, so I always had a fan on me at night. One night really late, the lights in every room came on and the fan shut off. I thought there was a power surge or something. So, I got up and turned off all of the lights and turned the fan back on and went to sleep. About 15 minutes later, the fan started turning off and on, by itself. I would just turn it back on and try to fall asleep. The final straw was when I was pretending I was asleep, but opened my eyes slightly. The knob on the fan was actually turning back and forth physically by itself. I freaked and ran downstairs and slept on the floor of my parents room. That is just one of the many times the ghost messed with me. Never viciously, just fun aggrivation.

My grandad was riding his motorbike home from work one day when he saw a lady at the side of the road. Being a gentleman he offered to take her home, she gave him her address and they set off. When he arrived at her house he realised she was no longer sat behind him. He went and knocked on the door and explained to the people who lived there what had happened. It turns out the lady he picked up was their daughter who died in an accident at the spot where he picked her up 2 years earlier. My grandad swears this is a true story!

The old man in the house next door to me was our neighbour for 25 years. He died on Christmas Day 2000. His room was on the other side of my bedroom wall. Ever since, I can hear thumps on the wall all the time (maybe its just noisy new neighbours). When I'm downstairs watching television, I can hear a clap noise upstairs. Weird.

I lived for a year with a friend in her dead great grandmother's house. We would hear all kinds of noises and books would move from the bookshelf by themselves. I swear. The cat used to stare at the bookshelf like she saw something. We would be watching tv in the sunroom and hear footsteps upstairs. It lasted a few weeks and then stopped.
