I was unemployed at the time, and also in the middle of a divorce. The irony of Sept. 11, 2001 is that it was my last wedding anniversary with my ex-husband! I figured, since my marriage was going down in flames, the rest of the world should too! Otherwise, I heard about the first plane just minutes after it hit, then turned on TV in time to see the second plane hitting. I just remember how surreal it was, the total confusion and speculation, the horror unfolding before everyone's eyes on live TV. That was the evil genius of the plot - don't just show the aftermath, broadcast it live in real time.

I was asleep and my roomie woke me up. When the first plane attacked, we thought it was a mistake. But after the second one hit, there was just this feeling of dread and devastation that came over me. I was going to ASU and had no cable so I went to the MU on campus to watch with other students. It is a moment and day in my life I will never forget. Even today it makes me feel sad and disappointed in all those behind it.

I was the manager at my daughter's daycare and I had just arrived and the phones were ringing off the hook. My boss's brother lived in NY at the time so people were calling to see if he was OK. At the time I still had not heard of the news. My boss showed up with a TV and we couldn't take our eyes off of it. I called my mom and my husband and told them how much I loved them and that I was so scared. I honestly thought the world was coming to an end. I will never forget that day as long as I live. My boss's brother was OK BTW. He worked at one of the Trade Centers, but he just happened to be late for work that day. He was on the train when it happened.

I was at my first day of work after I had been out of work after having a baby and get out of the Army. I didn't even know anything had happened because my boss was taking me around giving me a tour. We didn't find out until we were in an office with a television. My husband had been trying to get a hold of me, but he didn't know my number yet because I didn't, so it was a very frantic morning. I was trying to get information on the internet but everything was bogged down. Because I was new, I didn't know everyone else in my department was watching everything on a big screen television in another area. I was also scared because it was my daughters first day in daycare, and I was afraid they would be seeing all this on television. My oldest daughter was 3, so she would have wondered what was going on, thankfully my baby wouldn't have a clue. Once my husband and I got home from work we turned all televisions off and took the girls outside and then read to them.

I was shopping in Reykjavik. I could hear the radio; it was all in Icelandic, but I could tell by the tone of voice htat something terrible had happened.
I got back to the house and got a huge shock when I saw the pictures on TV. Not a good day.

I was one day away from going on holidays. I was supposed to leave with my (then finacee) to meet his parents by plane the next day. Of course, that didn't happen.
I woke up that morning and one tower was already on fire. I watched the news.
Every regular day I drove by an international airport on the way to and from work.
That day it was a field full of grounded planes -- an eerie visage. Like an airplane graveyard.
Happily, though we were able to take a flight out that weekend and I did get to meet his parents. My boss moved my holidays back a few days to accomodate.

I was driving up the NJ Turnpike towards Jersey City, directly across the river from WTC. I turned around after I heard about the 1st building collapse.

I was on my way to work and as the plane was coming towards the 1st tower (that was hit), if i had turned my head I would have seen it, it was parallel to me driving to work (im in jersey). When I got to work, me and a co-worker went to the roof of the building to see the towers smoking. We went back downstairs and about and hour later we heard on the news that one tower fell. I thought they meant fell over, but no, that was not the case here.
