I know exactly what u mean, I have 3 yr old twins and to do anything special costs a fortune let alone ordinary things!!!

I'm on my own now and fighting for survival LOL but at least my cupboards are all co-ordinated, blue stripey everything hehe

No its not just you, it's hard just to keep gas in the car, let alone afford the basics. The cost of living is getting higher, while wages are staying low or the same. Mere mortals will be obsolete before you know it. It will either be super rich or food stamps.!

I definitely agree with you on this!!! Everything has gone up in price except our paychecks. Thankfully, I don't have any huge material fetishes. That helps me out a lot! I own 5 pairs of shoes and 1 purse that I've had for 4 years. And I'm very happy about that :)

I agree. When I was growing up, my dad worked, my mom stayed home and raised us kids. We had a house, 2 cars and all the luxuries we needed. Nowadays it seems unless you are a Doctor or Lawyer or one of those proffessions, it is harder. I worked my *** for many years and what made me sad, as a single girl I couldn't have afforded to have my own house, plus car and all the other payments you have to make in life.

I agree with you - I'm on decent money for where i live, but i can't afford to go on a night out or get a house!!! I pay a pension, car insurance, health insurance, life insurance, etc and it just leaves me with nothing!

It's about time people were given a break and allowed to keep all the money they earned!!!!!!!

Houses. We can't afford those, as a first time buyer.

The rest of it, we can afford more, but the world is generating more things we think we need too.

If you can curb your excesses, and find a place to live, you should be able to get by.

The "basics" varies for everyone.
Some people consider owning a car a basic.
Some a luxury.

Try Sainsburys Basics range. It's cheap as chips.

Unfortunately that seems to be the case. The rich are getting richer and the pooor are getting poorer, u know how it goes. Inflation seems to be affecting the disadvantaged.
