Well, I think that you meant tank and not cage. If you had pulled the fish out of the tank because you needed to clean its living environment then maybe you released him or her too soon. They need time to adjust to the water tempt before being released. Also did you remember to treat the water?

Fish dont go in cages. They need water to survive, maybe that's why. I'm sorry about her/him though.

Maybe there is something with the water. Or it ate something that it shouldn't. Well don't be sad. Hope you find a new fish soon to cheer you up.

In the world of ichthyology it was probably a pelagic fish rather than one of the demersal family. I know - I studied piscine and was born under pisces

yeahhhhhh... I'm not if you know or not, but fish shouldn't be taken out and played with and they certainly need a fish tank and not a cage. It's not a lizard....

sheesh.

It needs food, if it had already eaten it might have had a disease or maybe it died of old age. Sorry, I know what it's like to lose a pet.. my dog ran away and i never saw him again.
