A very good choice indeed. He has terrific never-say-die spirit, and really does lead by example. He has a lot of experience from Chelsea's Champions League adventures and England's last two tournaments. His tactical awareness and technique are excellent - how many times have players got the better of him? Not many. He reads the game brilliantly well, his anticipation is first class.
His position as centre back also helps, because he can step back where he is, and watch the game unfolding. He can view situations before they arise, and instruct players as to what they need to do. Then he can also join in the play when needed. Steven Gerrard, what with his role running the midfield, can't really do this as he has to be at the heart of the action all the time. He is better off further upfield directing operations.
And if Rooney told HIM to f-off he would probably get a kick in! Steve McClaren's new England set up looks very promising.

The decision was made by the media not by the manager, even before he took up his position the media put forward Gerrard and Terry. Does anyone think the press can win us any major tournaments?.................i didnt think so.

Terry is the best, as he can lead from the back, as well as assist and score.
