Ok, be honest, how many of you live your life looking back into your best remembered memories? Finding yourself thinking about a person a place or special time that you smile about often, and that you give your left arm to just relive that moment one more time, rather than just in your memories?

i certainly live in my memories. i don't believe it's wrong and in fact, may actually be healthy because of remembering what i've been through and where i am now makes me a better person. the problem, i believe, comes when you can't let go of the past. holding on to past loves, certain relationships that weren't healthy and therefore are in the past can hold you back from moving forward and growing as a person.

Here's my memory trick...
When something wonderful's happening, I take a mental shapshot of it, and file it away in my wonderful memory file.
To keep the memory fresh, I go back to it at the end of the week, and remember the sounds, smells, surroundings, who I was with, and why I was so happy. On days when I'm feeling a little down, I go back to my memory file and take out 2 happy days. As I relive them, my feelings change, and the unhappy/sad/upset mood dissolves.

I don't spend my entire life looking back, but there are some people who have now passed over who made a tremendous impact on my life. I would love to spend some more time with them, so since I can't in reality. I treasure my memories.

MY memories make me cringe. I don't think that I've done many things in my life that I'd repeat if I had the chance to do them over. So, if anything, I tend to waste time thinking about how I might have done things differently. But, to be honest with you, I think I'd screw things up equally-badly if I'd had a chance to do a "do-over."

Heck yeah, there were lots of good times I'd love to freeze in time and live over and over.
