Muslims have been killing each other over god for thousands of years.

And you want to look at the last 60 years, a blip on the radar, and assume it means something?

There are multiple other nations or groups that use force as a means for deriving peace. The Romans conquered the known world. The British did too. Hitler tried to conquer it. Al Qaeda and other Muslim organizations are trying to obtain an all Muslim world which to them will ultimately result in peace and thus are using force to achieve their goals. Hezbollah wants peace as well and is using force to get it. And, so does Israel.
There has not been a period in world history of any more than 20 years without conflict or fighting. It speaks volumes to not just the U.S. but to human nature.
Peace can be achieved through reason and diplomacy, but only rarely, as typically this involves compromise. Unfortunately, compromising means sacrificing some parts of an agenda for the group, and many nations cannot deal with this.

So why does the U.S. believe in creating tension and conflict as a means to peace? Probably because it is the only way to achieve it while still retaining power. Although I must admit that your question is rather subjective, and loaded, since answering it implies that the U.S. actually does believe in creating tension and conflict as a means to peace. Many would agree that peace can be achieved through diplomacy, however when both parties don't comply with the terms of the agreement force is typically used to resolve the conflict. For example, in Iraq, all Saddam had to do to avoid being ousted was to let U.N. and U.S. inspectors into his country and allow them to conduct inspections without interfering. He chose not to let this happen and after multiple U.N. resolutions (which are like having your mom sending you into your room with your PlayStation, computer and TV, as punishment) the U.S. decided to take action. Whether or not it was justified is moot at this point, since the discussion at hand is about tension and conflict as a means to peace.

Get a clue. The tensions in the middle east are from radical Islam which has been trying to take over the world for the last 2000 years.

We were minding our own business until the real
tension creators started bombing US. Quit bashing
America and see the real facts...our government
would much rather everyone live in peace and we've
tried to help those who can't, but this is the hardest
thing in the world to do. We can't just sit back and let
other countries terrorize US. Why can't you see that?

The tension and conflict were there first or they wouldn't need our help to resolve it.
If you didn't love tension and conflict it would be much easier to have peace.
Too bad you have such a narrow view of the real world.

They don't - they believe in creating tension and conflict as a means to power.
