I am currently married to someone in the emergency medicine field (EMT) and I have to be honest that their job makes a relationship difficult. It is a high stress job that they often bring home with them. I know a lot of my husbands co-workers/friends who are paramedics, firemen and policemen since they work so closely and most, not all but most of them, are divorced at least once... have difficulty maintaining healthy relationships and I hate to say this but they also have difficulty with monogamy. We are on two different sleep cycles since he is used to a 24 hour shift and I only work an 8... so we rarely can actually sleep together and often he is so tired the day after his shift that he is pretty useless for anything because he needs to sleep. They work long shifts and are often away from home.. coupled with the stress of making life and death decisions plus seeing life and death on a daily basis takes it toll mentally and physically.. all I can say is really get to know them before you make a commitment such as marriage. I would highly suggest living together beforehand so you can see the patterns that their lives fall into. It takes a very strong and independent person to handle the strife and stress that being in a relationship with someone who sees and experiences as much as they do on a day to day basis entails. I just say proceed with caution.

Being one, no i wouldnt. I can only imagine what my wife goes through, not knowing and wondering. THe other day is a great example, i am due home at 4 and come walking in the house at 2 the next morning. Their is the constant worry, and fear of what might happen. Plus i know the risks i take, she doesnt and most of the guys i work with wont tell their wives or significant others either, they dont need it. I think not marrying one will be alot less stress.

It just depends. Depends on if you loved that person. Not his career. If you loved him and thought that you wanted to be supportive of that for the rest of your life then sure. Being a ''fireman'' has nothing to do with why you would marry someone. if you think it does, then hunny you've got it all wrong.
Anyways, I think being a fireman is sexy, and brave.

Yes I would. Being a fireman is an honorable profession. It means that my man is courageous and cares about the lives of others. As long as he is a decent person who respects me and loves me, his job would not hinder me from being his wife. Of course, I would be worried about him but I would worry about a police officer, a judge, an attorney, a construction worker, a taxidriver, a factory worker. If you love someone, you are concerned about their well-being.

My Mum married the retired Fire Chief locally and he has turned out to be a fantstic Step Dad. He is kind, hard working and generous to a fault. At 72 years old he is still fitter than most men half his age and really looks after both my Mum and himself. My advice would be to find another one like him (maybe a bit younger though LOL) and marry him like a shot.

Hell yeah! Then he wouldn't have to hire the fireman's uniform for a bit of naughtiness if u know what i mean!
Also, I admire firemen, so it would be quite easy to fall in love with one.

it always appears that firemen have a serious ego problem. the fact that they are firemen always gets dropped into the conversation somewhere as though its a great thing to do like they are some sort of hero. there are a lot of unsung heros in the world. so i might marry a bloke who just happened to put out fires for a living if you get my drift

My B/F is a fireman, and YES, he is one of the most caring, gentle but masculin men I have ever met!!! It doesn't matter his career, just as long as he is good and faithful to you!
