Why do ppl exactly call a person a gf/bf? Is it a sign of possessiveness,a 'i will marry u' promise,or for other reasons?

I've wondered about this as well and how stupid it is.

I guess it's a "show" thing. People want to show off that they are with so-and-so and all that. And there is a possibility that things will work out. Maybe even the fact that they're dating....

Anyway, in my view, I will never introduce a person I love with the absolutely synthetic word g/f.

gf= girlfriend
bf =boyfriend

People use the terms because they are committing to a relationship. If you agree to call each other your gf/bf, then you are making the commitment not to see other people. It's like marriage, but you're only dating, so you can break up if it doesn't work out. When you are married, you really shouldn't break up.
