The bulk folder is for SPAM. Although, some good emails will go there by accident. I always check just to be sure nothing good went in there.

not too sure, some of my emails to my friends to end up as bulk folder too.

Mostly the number of people it has been sent to. Hence Bulk.

some mail is spam. spam is an e-mail unsolicited by you that is advertising to various things you might or not be interested in. generally they are things that are hard to advertise otherwise (sex drugs, drugs without prescription, illegal software...).
each mail programme has a spam filter that will try to detect these spams based on key words that usually only appear in them.

Because you mail security, believes it is suspicious, or sometime in the past you had ask for it not to show up in your inbox.
