100% YES, lightning can strike the earth more than 25 miles away from a storm its called "Bolts from the Blue" There are times when a lightning flash can travel horizontally many miles away from the thunderstorm cloud itself and then strike the ground. These types of lightning flashes are called "Bolts from the Blue" because they seem to come out of a clear blue sky. Although these flashes are rare, they have been known to cause fatalities.

yes.

i was watching a show on discovery a few months back about lightning, and the showed a home movie at a baseball game in colorodo. the person running the camera was panning around the field to show how nice it was, not a cloud in the sky. as she was panning around the field she followed a man on a bike riding along the out field fence, when suddenly there was a bright flash, and he fell. it was dertermined that he was stuck by lightning. after doing some research they found that the nearest storm to the field was 85 miles away.

so yes it is possible, very unlikely, but possible

NO..

because lightnings are Emission of light due to electricity discharging from cloud to cloud or from cloud to earth....

in lay mans term.. the friction of Heavy Clouds produces lightning...

so meaning.. CLEAR SKY.. no LIGHTNING...

only LIGHTING.. coz theres nothing to obstruct the light from the sun...

Absolutly. It is not rain or moisture that causes lightening.

It is a buildup of a voltage or 'static' electricity that then discharges. This can occur when its dry.

In happens on a small scale all the time. Got a static shirt? Turn off the lights and take it off. Thats lightening.

Now we know it can happen. But wet conditions will increase that buildup of electrical charge making it more likely.

So all in all dont expect to see it on a clear day too often.
