Would you rather not know what psycho terrorist plan to do to innocent people? Would you rather go to New York and wonder what happened to the trade centers? Would you rather not know about a situation that happened locally? Would you rather wonder why so many troops are being deployed out of this country? Would you rather ***** about airport security and wonder why it is so tight? Would you rather wonder why millions of people in New Orleans are moving out of their city? Would you rather just get hit with a natural disaster then be warned? Would you rather be in the dark then let the media make you aware? If you don't like the news don't watch it but quit blaming the media for societies stupidity and the unfortunate things that happen in this world.

It is refreshing to see that this time, I have intelligent responses to my statement. I used to be in the broadcast industry and there is definitely a reason I left that career, I would have to agree that the media does take news stories too far in some cases but the logical, educated, human being will take the news stories with a grain of salt and focus on the topic rather than every detail. I think most people that become obsessed with the news are the ones that point the finger at the media.

I am a working member of the media here in the United States. Are we to blame for all of whats wrong with the world.... No. Are we sometimes irresponsible with information that we release as news....Yes! Just this morning I saw on a national TV morning "news" program, a step-by-step demonstration on how the terrorists were planning to assemble the explosive devices to bring down the airliners. I will not repeat here how it was done, but I was totally disgusted that this so-called national news organization would more or less show people how to assemble a home-made explosive device. It was so detailed that they even explained how to actually ignite the item using every-day household products. There is no reason that this should have ever been placed on the air. Only God knows who may have viewed this, and may have had the "seed" planted in their twisted brain on how to preform a terrorist act.
Sometimes the media goes too far on reporting a story. True, the story that a terrorist's plot was foiled should have been reported, but how they planned to pull the operation off, should not have been reported in such great detail.

It sounds like you have your mind made up already on this issue, but I will give my explanation a shot.
Personally, I don’t blame MAINSTREAM media for the worlds problems. I only accuse them of reporting it incorrectly. Most major media outlets now have an agenda in lieu of reporting what is actually happening. How often have we heard recently about Hezbollah being the VICTIMS!! That is totally absurd. There are no Hezbollah “victims”, only more dead terrorists. Try this…When a story is released, wait one week and do a Web search or listen for the same story. The original story will almost always have been proven incorrect! Do the right thing, don’t listen to the radical Right or Left and do your own research on the matter. Most people are naïve, so they will take for granted what the TV or newspaper tells them.
A few more things… Do you think we could have won WWII if our News media coverage was the same as it is now? No way!! Back then, even though many people understood that 1000’s were dying EACH DAY, we put a positive spin on it to keep morale high. Morale does wonders for peoples spirits.
Also, I don’t think the public SHOULD know everything that is going on. If they were to know more, it could cause widespread panic amongst the population.

i'm guessing right here because you probably did no longer point out precisely what your basing your question on. with connection with the present shooting in AZ there hasn't been a media blitz denying the shooter isn't to blame for his movements. yet why in basic terms provide up with the shooter as though there'll possibly no longer have been different reasons for his movements different than he's a deranged guy or woman. sort of like the terrorist that flew the planes into the towers. useful we located blame squarely on their shoulders yet did we provide up there? No. We invaded 2 countries and proceed to lump all Muslims into the terrorist class. If for no longer the rest because of the fact they prepare the comparable faith because of the fact the terrorists. under you practice of concept we could continually in basic terms settle for that the terrorist that flew into the towers are the to blame events and left it there. No invasion of Iraq or Afghanistan mandatory and easily no reason to seek Bin encumbered.

I don't blame "the media" for the world's problems. I simply disregard most of it because they make up or invent too much stuff.
For example, I expect it to be hot in August in the Northern Hemisphere. I don't need to be "warned" of the "deadly heat" every 15 minutes.
Or them turning a bunch of immature and selfish terrorists into a "humanitarian" organization (Hezbollah.)
Good grief...all of us aren't that stupid. Overall, the media is very condescending to its consumers.
I very, very rarely watch TV news or look at a newspaper anymore. I have missed nothing.
Keep in mind that the media's business...their sole purpose of existence...is to sell advertisements. The "news" isn't the product they're peddling...it's the viewers or readers that they're peddling to the advertisers that is their product.

If they would report facts, I wouldn't have so much of a problem with them. But, more often than not, most of the reporting today is opinion and hype to generate viewers and money. I take what they have to say anymore with a grain of salt. Hopefully I walk away with the facts and not constrewed information to try to sell their story.

Everyone rightly blames the Western/Israeli media for the world's problems. The job of the media is to be OBJECTIVE while reporting about what goes on. If you want to become a journalist, then report about what goes on without inciting hatered. Got it??? And don't blame those who hate you for inciting hatered. How come you didn't report anything about Milosevic's "trial" (exept how it began and how he "did everything to dragg it on"? Why didn't you report anything about Dr. Seselj's testimony which was abruptly cutt out by the "judges" during that "trial"? I suppose the media in Hitler's Germany blamed everyone who hated it for everything too.

The press is constantly under attack by those who would cut off our access to information. When people like Dick Cheney and Ann Coulter call the New York Times reporters terrorists, they show plainly that they do not understand what this country is all about.

It's not the news itself, it's the biased reporting, the leftist liberal leaning of the media that is so offensive.
