I would like to know what your requirements are for a president ie: his background, experience / history, and his views. Is there such a thing for each dominant political party? Some criteria exist for nominations? be required to meet our minimum requirements?

The only minimum Constitutional requirements for president is that they must be 35 and born a US citizen, and been a US resident for 14 years. Beyond that, states might have requirements to get on the state ballot for president (usually a certain number of signatures on a petition) but there are no other requirements.

The only requirements are in the constitution.

'No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.'

The two major parties, Democrat and Republican, hold primaries and caucuses in the various states. Candidates acquire delegates to a national nominating convention. The one with the majority of delegates wins the nomination.

Minor parties hold conventions and their rules for candidates varies from party to party.

It is also possible, in some states, to get on the ballot by petition.

Well in this country apparently all you need is a rich family who can fix the votes in your favor, so that you will without a doubt be president.
